I like what you are pointing to and in my experience there is something even bigger to see here. The nature of thought itself. When I think worried or insecure thoughts what I know about them is that they are thought generated. That they are formless energy and that they are coming from my own creative nature. They aren’t coming from anything outside of me, they aren’t telling me about anything outside of me. They are pure fiction. They are only telling me that my thinking is off. And when I know that my thinking is off, that my thinking process just isn’t working properly at the moment I automatically ignore it. Nothing to fix. It’s like waking up from a dream and feeling the relief that it was just my imagination. Phew, there is no monster chasing me, I am safe in my bed. It brings me right back to the present, gets me out of the future and I can appreciate the things around me because I can see them again. The other realization that has been profound for me is realizing that any coping method, any practice, requires us to use the power of thought to get us out of the mess that thought got us into in the first place. And that just stopped making sense. Thoughts are alway coming and going and they will always leave if we give them the chance to leave and don’t hold on to them. It requires a surrender and then you drop back into the present and out of thought. And there is something about that space of thoughtlessness that puts us back in touch with the core of who we are, the part of us that isn’t our thoughts, the part of us that is listening to our thoughts. That is the space of pure love and when we can find love it fills up all of the cracks and crevices of fear and then blankets our fear with the good feeling that was always there underneath. (Forgive my ranting, it just poured out).
